Description: Resume writing and networking are vital skills for advancing your professional and academic career. Learn how to show off your experience and connect with people who can guide you on your professional path.
If you are planning to apply for volunteering, internships and research opportunities, this workshop is for you.
This is a required workshop for Pre-Health students.
Title: Prestigious Scholarships Information Session for Pre-Health Freshmen & Sophomores
Description: Come and hear about fellowship opportunities and why they are important to your future as a scientist and health professional.
Stephen Lassonde, Director of Hunter’s Office of Prestigious Scholarships & Fellowships will discuss individual fellowships, internships, and the elements of the application process.
Title: Community Service for Pre-Health Students
Description: The Senior Director for Community Health at the American Heart Association’s will conduct a community service workshop. This presentation will also provide a walk-through of the American Heart Association’s mission, programs, volunteer opportunities and community events. It will include a discussion of the role of the volunteer in efforts to improve the heart health for all communities. The objective this event is also to deepen your understanding of the American Heart Association and to share how your involvement will have a significant impact in saving lives! This is a required workshop for Pre-Health students.
Title: Update Letters & Letters of Intent Workshop
Description: Just when you thought you were done with applications, there is still more to do! Come to this workshop to learn when it is appropriate to inform health professional schools of new information that may enhance your chances for admission.
This workshop will also cover when to send a letter of intent to the school that is your top choice. We will review how to write update letters and letters of intent and sample letters will be provided.
This workshop is highly recommended for students who are applying to health professions schools in the 2018-2019 cycle.
Title: Hunter Pre-Health Student Organization Open House
Description: Pre Health Organization presents their Open House. Come by and meet with the entire e-board. We will discuss the pre-health track, pre-health file, upcoming events, weekly mentoring among many other things. This will be a great opportunity for new pre-health students to get to know the e-board better and build connections.
Title: SNMA MAPS-Minority Association of Pre-medical Students Open House
Description: Join Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students (MAPS) for its first official event of the semester. Learn about shadowing, mentoring, research, and academic opportunities that will benefit you greatly as pre-medical students.As the oldest and largest pre-medical club, our events will provide you the support you need to get through the four long years at Hunter, and attendance of our events will give you credit and hours that are required. We will be serving a continental breakfast.

Title: 2019-2020 Committee Letter Application Workshop for Post Bacc Certificate Students
Description: THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR STUDENTS IN THE POST-BACC CERTIFICATE PROGRAM ONLY.
The Committee Letter workshop organized by the Pre-Health Post Bacc advisor to provide each applicant or reapplicant with valuable information about preparing your Committee Letter Application and your medical, dental or veterinary school application. This includes guidelines for preparing Personal Statements and other parts of the application. These guidelines are presented to help applicants to craft their personal statements and other parts of their Committee Letter Application.
In order to submit a Committee Letter Application and receive a committee letter you must attend this workshop. This is MANDATORY Post Bacc certificate program students.
