Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine Quinnipiac University visits Hunter College
The Director of admissions will be visiting Hunter to discuss applying to Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine. The admissions presentation will cover topics such as; the medical school admissions process and being a competitive applicant.
Everything You Need to Know about Being a Pre-Health Student
This workshop is geared towards students who are interested in going on to professional health care programs of medicine, dentistry, optometry, veterinary and podiatric medicine. This workshop is designed to ensure students learn the basic information and can begin meeting the requirements for a competitive application. Topics include: Academic Expectations Prerequisite courses How to develop your Pre-Health Portfolio Characteristics of a Competitive Applicant
Pre-Health Drop-in Group Advising
Hunter Pre-health advisers will hold a drop-in, group advising sessions for students with pre-health questions. This session will be held in a classroom setting and will allow students to collectively ask questions of the pre-health advising team and to learn from their pre-health peers. All are welcome, especially first-year students!
MD and PhD Pre-Professional Panel Discussion
The Hunter College Biology Club is hosting a MD and PhD Pre-Professional panel. Come, meet and ask MD/PhD and PhD Students’ questions about their exciting careers! Dinner will be served!
AMCAS workshop
The Hunter College Post-Bacc Community will be hosting a consultant from a company called Med School Coaches will be giving an hour long presentation on navigating the AMCAS application process. She'll provide tips and strategies for creating your most effective possible application.
Bioethics and Medicine: Exposure to Bioethics
The Society of Bioethics and Medicine and Pre-Health Organization will be holding an event called "Exposure to Bioethics." This event will consist of presentations by Hunter faculty that have been actively engaged in the field of bioethics. There will be presentations on the ethics of psychiatry, neuroscience, and animal research, followed by a discussion among students and the faculty members. This is a great event for anyone interested in science research or medicine.
Dr. Joel Oppenheim MD/PhD Talk
Dr. Joel Oppenheim, Senior Associate Dean for Biomedical Science and Professor of Microbiology at New York University School of Medicine is visiting Hunter College to talk to students pursuing pre-med, pre-MD/PhD, or PhDs in the medical fields. He has served on NYU's M.D. and M.D./Ph.D. Admissions Committees, and he chairs the Ph.D. Admissions Committee. He is the founder and organizer of the "What Can You Be With a Ph.D.?" Symposium, and one of the founding program directors of The Leadership Alliance (1992), a consortium of collaborating minority-serving colleges and major research universities committed to increasing graduate-level underrepresented minorities in all disciplines. He will be discussing the Medical/Graduate School application processes, and the jobs available in those chosen fields.

Tufts University-School of Dental Medicine Admissions Presentation
oin us for a discussion/presentation with Gillian Anzivino, the Assistant Director of Admissions from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Tufts University School of Dental Medicine was founded in 1868, and is an accredited private dental school. The school offers a dynamic curriculum, which provides excellent clinical training, integrates the health sciences with clinical experience and utilizes modern technology.
Post-Bacc Alumni Panel
The Post-Bacc Pre-Health Community together with the Pre-Health Office will be hosting an Alumni Panel in which we'll hear real live Hunter Post-Bacc alumni (all currently medical students at NYC illustrious schools) discuss their Hunter experience, their application process, and their transition into medical school. They'll tell us what they did wrong, what they did right, and recommend how we can make the most of our experience along the way. And they'll take questions!
