From CUNY to Harvard Medical School

Join us for an engaging discussion with Dr. Elliot Melendez, a pediatric emergency physician at Boston Children’s Hospital; a physician triple board certified in pediatrics, pediatric critical care and pediatric emergency medicine; and a Harvard Medical School graduate. A high school dropout from the South Bronx, Dr. Melendez entered Lehman in 1989 after earning his GED. Working full-time while attending class, he was forced to leave school during his junior year to support his wife and newborn child. His research focuses on the evaluation of severe infection in infants and children, and he is also involved in a telemedicine initiative with the Hospital Buen Samaritano in rural Puerto Rico in which knowledge and expertise are shared via telemedicine technology.
