Dr. Tom Catena is the medical director and only doctor at Mother of Mercy Hospital, serving nearly a million patients in the region. He is on call 24/7 and helps these individuals who experience frequent bombing attacks, malnourishment, disease, and serious injuries from conflict and tension in the area. He is one CMMB’s longest-serving volunteer, constantly working to provide direct aid to this population. Dr. Catena was listed as one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People in 2015 and he was the winner of the prestigious Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity in 2016.
