Frances (Fara) Tolibzoda Zakusilo is a first-generation immigrant from Tajikistan, who graduated from Hunter College in Spring 2016 and joined the University of Rochester MD/Ph.D. program in the summer of the same year.
Having finished the first 2 years of medical training, she is currently studying the role of glycan components of extracellular matrix in neurodegeneration at Gorbunova lab. Beyond research and medicine and she enjoys being a mother of a very energetic 18-month-old, sewing and learning new languages.
