We will explore the importance of farming, culturally affirming foods, and food and land sovereignty in creating healthier and safer communities. We will also think through what it means to care for people in deeper and more holistic ways, through abolitionist and anti-racist praxis, as future healthcare providers.
Our speaker is Sharmain Siddiqui (she/her), a Muslim, Pakistani-American organizer, farmer, healer, and incoming medical student. She holds degrees in South Asian studies and Environmental Policy from Northwestern University. She is invested in using plant and land-based healing to imagine new paradigms of liberation.
Sharmain is currently growing healing medicines and community power in Chicago.
