A panel of researchers from Weill Cornell Medicine will lead a discussion on Health Equity. Health equity is the idea that everyone should have a fair and just chance to be as healthy as possible. It's achieved when everyone has access to affordable, culturally competent health care, regardless of their race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, or other factors.
Health equity requires ongoing efforts to address health disparities and social determinants of health, such as poverty, discrimination, and lack of access to quality education, housing, and safe environments. Health inequities can be reflected in differences in life expectancy, quality of life, rates of disease, disability, and death, and severity of disease. Come and gain valuable insights on health equity research.
