Maximizing Access to Research Careers

The Maximizing Access to Research Career (MARC) program provides year-round training for undergraduate underrepresented students at Hunter.  The program's aim is to prepare its scholars for admissions acceptance to biomedical graduate research program.  Scholars receive research training:

  • Hands on research and lab exposure throughout the academic year

  • Support systems - Hunter faculty research mentor and MARC student alliances

  • Skill building in critical thinking, scientific writing and scientific presentation.

  • Enrichment seminars - talks by invited guests (scientists, MARC alumni, and graduate recruiters)

  • Opportunities to attend at a national conference - exposure to a spectrum of career scientists, networking and resources for summer/graduate programs.

  • A monthly stipend and tuition waiver (fall/spring) for participating in MARC activities.  Scholars conduct research in a lab throughout the academic year, each week (minimum 15-20 hours).
