About the Clinic

The Hunter College Center for Communication Disorders (HCCCD) located in the North Building of the Brookdale Health Sciences campus of Hunter College on East 25th Street, is the Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology's on-campus clinical training site for Speech-Language Pathology master's level students. In addition, doctor of audiology (AuD) students are enrolled in the CUNY AuD Consortium each semester through the HCCCD. The Center provides the opportunity for graduate students in the Department to obtain clinical practicum experience under the supervision of ASHA certified and NYS licensed SLP and AUD faculty.

We are a clinical training facility for graduate students in speech-language pathology and audiology. We provide high quality speech, language, and hearing screenings, assessments, therapy and other interventions to people of all ages, backgrounds and special needs.

Serving people of all ages and backgrounds with speech, language and/or hearing disorders

The Hunter College Center for Communication Disorders (HCCCD) was established in 1957 to provide services to the College and surrounding community for persons of all ages with disorders of speech, language and/or hearing.

As a nationally accredited program by the Council on Academic Accreditation we adhere to all standards and guidelines set forth for state-of-the-art speech-language and audiology professional practices. All services of the Center are provided under the direct supervision of New York State licensed and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association certified speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

HCCCD’s Mission

  • Develop professionals who will meet the healthcare and educational needs of the metropolitan New York area through prevention, assessment and management of communication disorders in children, adolescents and adults from culturally, ethically and linguistically diverse populations
  • Produce clinically based research that will advance knowledge of normal and disordered processes of communication across the lifespan
  • Provide educational and clinical services to the College and the metropolitan New York City communities
  • Provide leadership in clinical practice to the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology as a whole

Speech-Language-Voice Services Cost
Evaluation $200
30-minute treatment session $35
45-minute treatment session $50
Pre-pay 1 semester of 30-minute treatment sessions (14 treatments): $400
Pre-pay 1 semester of 45-minute treatment sessions (14 treatments): $600
Audiology Services Cost
Complete Audiological Evaluation $200
Auditory Processing Evaluation $275
Auditory Brainstem Response Testing $275

Note: The HCCCD does not accept any insurance for speech-language or audiology services. The Center can provide clients with a detailed charge sheet to submit to their own insurance providers for reimbursement. A sliding scale and limited scholarships are available to some individuals for clinic services. Clients may inquire about these possibilities upon making an appointment.

Services are scheduled by appointment. Attempts are made to accommodate school and work schedules. The Center is ADA compliant; all services are strictly confidential, adhering to HIPAA and FERPA privacy regulations.

  • Diagnose and treat children or adults with hearing loss or suspected hearing difficulties including auditory processing issues
  • Assist children with speech and language delays and disorders
  • Treat children or adults with stuttering or fluency problems
  • Assist children or adults with voice disorders
  • Evaluate and treat children or adults with communication disorders due to special needs, medical issues, and genetic syndromes
  • Modifies speech and voice patterns to better align with preferred vocal parameters for both occupational and gender-affirming practices
