Stanford/Hunter Summer Program

outdoor fountain of Stanford University.

SUMMER 2025 APPLICATION DEADLINE:
FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 2025 at 5:00 pm

Hunter College announces the return of our summer research exchange program. The Stanford/Hunter Summer Program is designed for students who wish to develop an independent research project and are considering graduate school, ideally a PhD program, in one of the Humanities disciplines.

As many as five Hunter College humanities students will spend eight weeks on the beautiful campus of Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Stanford will match each Hunter student with a Stanford faculty member who will mentor the student as they develop their research project. Students will also participate in a weekly seminar on the graduate application process and research in the Humanities. This is an ideal opportunity for students to lay the groundwork for a senior-year capstone project. Or it can be a great opportunity to expand a project that students have worked on at Hunter, but want to take to another level. And to do it all in California!

The students who are selected will have their travel arranged by Stanford, and receive room and board on the Stanford campus, a bicycle to commute on campus, and a stipend of $4,000. The program will run from June 21 - August 17.

This program is not intended for those who are pursuing visual or performing arts. Only returning undergraduate students are eligible to apply (i.e., those who will not earn a bachelor's degree prior to Summer 2025.)
