In-store pick up for pre-ordered caps and gowns begins May 12, 2025 at Hunter Essentials, 931 Lexington Avenue between 68th and 69th Street. Students and faculty members with late orders or walk-in orders can visit Hunter Essentials for in-store purchasing of caps and gowns starting May 14, 2025 while supplies last.

Ordering Your Cap and Gown

You may order your official cap and gown through Herff Jones and the Shakespeare & Co. bookstore.

  • Students and faculty can order class rings, diploma frames, specialty announcements and regalia on the Herff Jones website starting November 15, 2024.
  • Orders received by April 7, 2025 are eligible for home delivery via standard shipping at a cost of $14.90.
  • There will also be an expedited ordering period for home shipping only from April 8, 2025 until April 25, 2025. The cost for home shipping during this period is $21.30.
  • In-store pick up for pre-ordered cap and gowns will begin on May 12, 2025 at Hunter Essentials located at 931 Lexington Avenue between 68th and 69th Street.

Tassel Colors

Tassel colors correspond to each graduation candidate’s academic school. Please be ready to provide this information at the time of purchase. Tassel colors are as follows:

  • School of Arts and Sciences: White tassel
  • School of Education: Light Blue tassel
  • School of Health Professions: Kelly Green tassel
  • School of Nursing: Apricot tassel
  • School of Social Work: Citron tassel
  • School of Urban Public Health: Kelly Green tassel

Honors Cords

Please consult with your respective academic or scholarship programs for additional information regarding honor chords. Salutatorians may purchase their stoles in person from Shakespeare & Co.
