Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program
The program consists of core courses taken with other graduate students in nursing, advanced practice core courses, specialization courses, and an elective course.
Progression through the program requires daytime and evening availability to attend courses and/or clinical experiences. One of the program’s combined didactic/clinical practicum courses is currently only offered during a 12-week summer session (late May through mid-August), with classes meeting once per week (approx. 5-6 hours/week) on campus and 210 precepted clinical hours. Students must have flexibility in scheduling to meet the requirements of the program.

Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program
The program includes core courses in nursing and specialization courses that combine advanced knowledge with 630 hours of supervised clinical experience.

Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist Program
The program consists of nursing core courses and advanced practice courses shared with other graduate students in nursing, courses in the adult-gerontology CNS specialization, and cognate-electives. Through course work, clinical practicum placements, and carefully selected electives, students develop skills in the competencies required for the adult-gerontology CNS role. The advanced clinical practicum placements are offered in a variety of adult medical-surgical specialties. Students also have an opportunity to participate in community-based programs aimed at serving a selected target population and promoting policy changes in the health care delivery system.

Nursing Education Program
The Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing offers a 43-credit Nursing Education program leading to a Master of Science (MS) degree. The program prepares nurses to become skilled nurse educators in a variety of academic and healthcare settings. The curriculum is based on an apprenticeship model of educational training that combines rigorous coursework with a practicum in nursing education guided by experienced mentors.
You must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for admission. Meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance to the program.
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (both cumulative and in the nursing major)
- Completion of a basic statistics course and an undergraduate research course or equivalent.
- New York State RN license and current registration.
- At least two years of post-baccalaureate full-time registered nursing experience.
- Two letters of recommendation. These letters are an important part of the admissions process. They should be from individuals who can address your potential for success in graduate studies and in the advanced role you have chosen.
- A statement of purpose of approximately 500 words describing your objectives in undertaking graduate study in the desired specialization.
