The Hunter Value

Financing an Education at Hunter

As a parent or supporter, one of your primary concerns is likely financing a College education. Hunter is one of the most affordable four year Colleges in the country. Because of this, we are proud to say that more than 75% of students graduate from Hunter completely debt free. This will give your student a major financial advantage when they enter the workplace or pursue an advanced academic degree. Students at Hunter can receive need based financial aid through the federal or state government or merit based scholarships (or both!). We also have work student opportunities for those who qualify. Below are some links to get you started.

Career Preparation

and Academic Philosophies

Hunter College is a liberal arts institution with over a hundred fields of study. Our curriculum creates a foundation of knowledge which will encourage your child to be academically curious while also providing the necessary focus to excel in a particular area of interest (or two!). There are thousands of faculty members at Hunter, almost all of whom have the highest degree in their field.

We also want to do our best to prepare your child for a success and rewarding career. The Career Development Services office will help your child from day 1 with resume writing, interview preparation, and finding a meaningful internship or job.

Living in NYC

One of Hunter’s greatest assets is undeniably its location, the Upper East Side neighborhood of New York City. Whether your child has grown up in the City, or is a brand new New Yorker, their life at Hunter will be intertwined with the city itself through internships, class outings, and social events.

Hunter has several residence halls located on the east side of Manhattan, an easy commute to our main campus at 68th street and Lexington Avenue.

Campus Safety and Security

While the Hunter community and surrounding neighborhood is extremely safe, we understand that we are located in a major city and therefore take the appropriate precautions. The entire Hunter campus is guarded 24 hours per day by our public safety officers.

All buildings are secure and require a valid Hunter ID to enter. There are ”Talk-Alert boxes” boxes throughout campus that are mounted on walls near elevators, stairways and bathrooms. These connect directly with public safety. To learn more details about Public Safety at Hunter.
