Study, Hang Out, and Eat

Study Room Policies

  • Can be only reserved by Hunter students with current Hunter ID.
  • No reservations accepted from IELI, Hunter Science High School, or Hunter College High School students, or faculty or alumni.
  • Reservations MUST be made in person at the Reserve Desk
  • Reservations must be made for a maximum of 2 hours, at least one day in advance, but no more than one week in advance.
  • Reservations will be forfeited after 10 minutes if you fail to appear.
  • When not reserved, study rooms are available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Anyone using a study room must vacate the room when the room has been reserved.
  • No food in the study rooms.
  • If the door is locked, please go to the Reserve Desk.

Accessible Study Rooms

Rooms 205-210 are available for students registered with the Hunter Office of AccessAbility.

In addition to the rules above:

  • You can reserve an accessible study room at the reservation desk in person, or call 212-772-4160 or 212-772-4162.
  • You must present both your Hunter ID and your Access Accommodation ID.

  • 2nd Floor – Balcony (above the gallery, overlooking the lobby)
  • 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th Floors – Lounges adjacent to escalators
  • 7th Floor – Sidney A. Miller Student Lounge

As we all continue to adjust to an online, hybrid, and in-person class schedule, we are aware that many students are in need of space on campus to take their online courses.
We have created dedicated student Talking Spaces for taking online classes. While in these spaces, students are expected to use their own headphones to listen to their class and can feel free to unmute and speak when necessary.

Terrace
Looking to escape the city noise and hustle for a while? The Hunter College campus at 68th Street features an outdoor terrace with plants. With its bird’s-eye view of Lexington Avenue and green foliage, the West Building terrace offers a spacious reprieve with tables and chairs–ideal for studying or socializing.

Computer Access

Student can access computers throughout Hunter campuses when they are open.

Dedicated Windows and Macintosh labs are available for classes, workshops, and orientations. Open hours for walk-in use by students are available in most labs. In addition there are computers available to students in most buildings.

Student Club Lockers

3rd floor, Thomas Hunter Hall  – Are you in a student club and looking for a place to store audio or office equipment? Lockers are available and offer a safe environment for various club equipment.


Hunter Recreation & Intramurals

  • Lockers are available on a first come, first-served basis.
  • You must use your own lock.
  • All lockers are for day use only and must be emptied by the end of the day.

You are not able to keep the same locker for the entire year. However, baskets can be rented for semester or yearly use. If you would like to rent a basket, please pay at the Bursar’s office. Bring your receipt to room WB324 on the B3 level of the West Building.

Music Department Lockers

The Music Department’s lockers can only be used if you are currently taking lessons for credit or participating in an ensemble.
