About the Program

Each year, we select a cohort of Cooperman Fellows among Hunter College students who show outstanding promise as future business leaders. Fellows are chosen for impressive academic achievement and participation in business-related extracurricular activities at Hunter and beyond. They are also selected for their character and commitment to growing the business community at Hunter College. We consider applicants from all majors including Economics, Computer Science, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology, and Statistics, to name a few.

The Cooperman Fellowship helps students develop critical thinking and leadership skills, while preparing them to enter the business world with a running start. In addition to receiving a scholarship and internship support, Fellows gain knowledge of and exposure to business topics through priority access to speakers, industry/career panels, company tours, conferences, and specialized workshops. Fellows also receive guidance on career planning from the Cooperman Business Center staff, and informal mentorship from Cooperman Fellowship alumni.

Program Details

Cooperman Fellows receive up to $2,000 in stipends for unpaid internships and study abroad. Depending on their financial need and aid package, they may receive $1,500 of tuition assistance per semester for up to 5 semesters. Additional financial assistance for business-readiness expenses may also be available.

Fellows also benefit from support services to ensure their successful transition to accomplished business executives. These include:

  • mentoring and advising, including career planning and exploration strategies
  • internship and job search support, including guidance on networking and strategies for success
  • company visits and sponsored tickets to industry speakers, panels, conferences, and fairs
  • networking opportunities with notable executives across a wide range of industries
  • networking opportunities with other Cooperman Fellows and alums
