SEEK at Hunter offers various programs that students can participate in. Please follow the links below for more information:
The SEEK Summer Bridge Program is a mandatory four-week, non-residential program for incoming freshmen SEEK at Hunter participants. During the summer prior to their first academic year at Hunter College, summer participants take non-credit-bearing introductory courses in English, Writing, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Participants attend weekly skill-building workshops, daily tutorials, cultural events (e.g. museums), team-building exercises, and engage in experiential learning.
The entire summer experience is deigned to prepare incoming freshmen for the rigorous academic work required of matriculated Hunter College students
More About the Summer Bridge ProgramThe Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society was founded by Dr. Elbert Saddler in 1989 at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. It was organized in response to an increased need to acknowledge the continuing success of students in the Academic Development Program. Dr. Saddler recognized that these students could serve as significant models to others who shared similar experiences.
The Epsilon Alpha Chapter of the Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society was formed to recognize the outstanding academic achievements of students enrolled in the SEEK at Hunter. The chapter aims to promote continued high academic standards, to cultivate increased communication, and to honor academic excellence achieved by its members.
The Epsilon Alpha Chapter’s eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Students must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA for two consecutive full-time semesters
- Students must have been admitted to Hunter College through the auspices of SEEK
- Alumni who graduated with a 3.0 or better may subsequently be inducted into the Epsilon Alpha Omega Chapter
The Epsilon Alpha Chapter at Hunter College joins over 100 college and university chapters nationwide, including Michigan State University, Villanova University, SUNY Stony Brook, Baruch College, Brooklyn College and John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

The SEEK Ambassador Program is an interactive program for SEEK at Hunter participants. The mission of the program is to broaden opportunities for SEEK at Hunter participants to become self-directed and confident in their leadership abilities; to improve their abilities to work effectively within student organizations; and to gain valuable life skills that are transferable beyond life at Hunter College. Ambassadors promote SEEK at Hunter both on and off campus. The SEEK Ambassador Program is designed to help aspiring leaders navigate the challenge of student leadership and beyond. The Program will ideally contribute to a lifelong pursuit of leadership development and accomplishment.
The SEEK Ambassador Program aims to create a personal development environment where participants can grow in their leadership competence through a range of modalities, such as individual reflection, group experience, applying developmental tools and information resources.
Throughout the program, Ambassadors contribute and interact positively with prospective SEEK at Hunter students and prospective SEEK Ambassador Program participants. Ambassadors lead campus tours, assist with organized events and functions and communicate with prospective students via email and/or phone.
The SEEK Ambassador Program offers many advantages, among them:
- Providing a foundation of leadership and personal development knowledge to help participants transition into college and beyond;
- Building relationships with fellow Ambassadors, prospective SEEK at Hunter student participants, SEEK at Hunter student community, and key administrators, staff and faculty; and

The SEEK Mentoring Program is intended to provide program participants with guidance from a student’s perspective. Peer mentors provide guidance to their mentees by developing a relationship that allows them to share their Hunter College experience including career, academic, and personal support. By fostering this mentoring relationship, program participants serve as role models for students within, and outside of SEEK at Hunter.
The goals of the SEEK Mentoring Program are:
- to develop meaningful relationships between mentees and mentors that will benefit both parties;
- to ease mentees through their transition into Hunter College;
- to share knowledge of resources;
- to serve as a source of information and encouragement;
- to decrease the amount of academic stressors that mentees may experience in college including social, peer, and financial pressures.
