Class Search

To find the schedule of the courses offered for the upcoming semester or session, go to the searchable schedule of classes or:

1. Log into your CUNYfirst account.
2. Select HR/Campus Solutions from the first menu after login.
3. Click on Self Service > Student Center > Search for Classes (green button on the top right of the page).

The number of available seats maybe misleading. For some courses, the number of seats may be reserved (e.g. for freshman students participating in Learning Communities) and included in the total number of “available seats." As a result, an “overtally” permission may be required even if it appears that seats are available. Continue through the end of the registration process to confirm whether or not seats are actually available.

If you need a class in order to graduate, you may be able to obtain permission from your professor or department. After receiving “closed class permission” from the administrator in the department, re-register for the course.

Some classes must be taken together with other component, e.g, a lab section usually requires taking the basic lecture as well or in addition to a lecture you may have to register for a discussion section. If so, make sure to put all necessary components in your shopping cart prior to completing your registration.

Courses at Hunter College are taught in several different formats, from the traditional classroom environment, to courses that are conducted entirely online. Hunter offers at least one fully online course in each CUNY Core Requirements category.

Additionally, there are several options that combine online and classroom learning to varying degrees. A course’s mode of instruction describes its type of classroom environment.

Students can find a course’s mode of instruction in the searchable schedule of classes by looking under “class details.”
