New York State Teacher Certification Examinations (NYSTCE)

The NYSTCE is required for New York State educator certification. The Hunter College Testing Center, a Pearson VUE-Authorized Test Center, administers computer-based NYSTCE exams Monday through Friday (except holidays).

How to Register

Registering

  • Register Online: Visit the NYSTCE website to register and pay.
  • Schedule Your Test: Select a date, time, and location (choose Hunter College Testing Center). Seating is limited, so register early.
  • Confirmation: After scheduling, you’ll receive an email from Pearson VUE with your test details. Contact 1-413-256-2882 or 1-800-309-5225 if you don’t receive confirmation within three business days.

Rescheduling or Canceling

Log in to your account at the NYSTCE website to make changes to your test appointment.

Exam Day Requirements

  • Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID matching the name on your account. 
  • Report to Room 150, Hunter North Building. 
  • Erasable boards and markers will be provided; personal materials are not allowed.
