Nursing Entrance Exam (NEX)

The Nursing Entrance Exam (NEX) is required for applicants to the Generic and Accelerated Second-Degree Pathways at the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing. The exam evaluates Verbal, Math, and Science skills, with each section 60 minutes long. You may retake the exam once every six months (either remote or in person, but not both). Scores are valid for two years for admissions and you should test by February 28 to be considered for Fall admissions.

How to Register

Create an NLN Account: 

  1. Visit the National League for Nursing (NLN) website to create an account. Use Student Group Code 397210-01 to send your scores to Hunter College. 
  2. Do not create more than one account.

Registering for an On-site Exam or Schedule and Complete a Virtual Exam.

Choose Your Testing Option

Registering

The cost of the remote exam is $68.50. You will purchase and schedule your exam through NLN account. After you have purchased the exam, follow the instructions located in the email confirmation to schedule a date and time to test with Proctor360. Students must set their test appointment at least 48 hours in advance.

Day of Exam

  • Log in to your NLN account.
  • Use the passcode provided by Proctor360 during check-in.
  • Bring valid government-issued photo ID.
  • Only the built-in calculator and a whiteboard with an eraser are allowed.

Registering

The cost of the in-person exam is $52.50 + a nonrefundable $36.00 administration fee. The fee must be paid by the day of the test, before exam start time and only accepted by money order and in person to the Office of the Bursar (Room 238, North Building). Money orders are to be payable to Hunter College Testing Center.

Day of Exam

  • Report to Room 150 Hunter North Building.
  • Bring valid government-issued photo ID and proof of administration fee payment.
  • Use the built-in calculator; scrap paper will be provided.
