Late Payments

Hunter College will be reactivating the collection of late fees for outstanding balances, starting in the Fall 2025 semester. However, students can avoid this fee by paying their tuition in full on or before their tuition due date via CUNYfirst.

• Effective Fall 2025, any account that is not paid in full by their due date will incur a $15.00 late fee per month until the balance is paid in full.
• In accordance with the University policy, a Bursar Hold (BUR) will be placed on students accounts until all balances are paid in full.
• Bursar holds will prohibit students from registering for a future term.
• Students enrolled in the Nelnet payment plan will not incur any late fees.
• Students whose approved financial aid will cover their tuition in full will not incur any late fees.

Note: If bills remain unpaid for more than one term, the College reserves the right to forward a student's account to a Collection Agency. Once an account is referred to a Collection Agency, the student will be responsible for what is owed to the College plus all collection costs.
