Remote Proctoring Services
The Hunter College Testing Center provides proctoring services to Hunter College faculty, who are teaching Hunter courses and would like to have an exam proctored remotely. We offer the convenience of an experienced staff of proctors. Hunter faculty may seek to have their Hunter examinations officially invigilated by the Hunter College Testing Center via a remote platform. Be sure to review our General Testing Rules page.
To Schedule An Exam
Hunter College course professors must contact the Hunter College Testing Center at least two weeks in advance of the exam window to request the possibility of having an exam proctored remotely. Exams are scheduled by the Testing Center based on the availability of proctors and the length of the exam. Exams are remotely proctored via the Testing Center's Zoom or Blackboard Collaborate Ultra accounts. Due to the anticipated high volume of students, who need to test, we may not be able to honor your request to test students during the months of May, June, July and August.
The Remote Exam Request Form should be completed and submitted by the Hunter College course professor at least two weeks prior to the exam start date.
We will confirm receipt of all exam materials with the course professor. Course professors will then inform the student to contact the Testing Center at testing@hunter.cuny.edu to schedule a test date and time. Reminder: Exams are scheduled by the Testing Center based on the availability of proctors and the length of the exam. Due to the anticipated high volume of students, who need to test, we may not be able to honor your request to test students during the months of May, June, July and August.
Based on the total number of students scheduled to test, students are asked to join the exam session well in advance of the exam start time with valid photo identification to conduct the sign-in process. Students who are late will only be granted a 5 minute grace period. Students, who are more than 5 minutes late, will be asked to reschedule the exam with their course professor. Students can test using the following operating software: MacOS or Windows. A webcam and mic is required to test. A smartphone is required for an environmental check (if requested by the professor). The student's testing station should only include the testing device (with working mic and webcam), keyboard, mouse, scrap paper (if permitted), and writing instrument (if permitted). Students must ensure a quiet, well lit testing area and a strong internet connection to complete the exam.
Please be advised, the Hunter College Testing Center will be enforcing it policy on punctuality and photo identification. Any student who is unable to attend their exam date and/or time should contact the Testing Center at testing@hunter.cuny.edu as soon as possible to reschedule. Students will be allowed to reschedule their exam date twice.
