Obtain and Manage OneCard

To obtain an ID card, make an appointment at OneCard. Then go to the OneCard Stations that are located in the West Building Room 203 or the corner of the West Building Lobby.

All students MUST bring:

  • A form of identification (i.e. driver's license, passport, etc.) as proof of who they are.
  • Proof of registration at Hunter College (confirmation of classes, and/or other evidence).

New employees must fill out appropriate paperwork in the Office of Human Resources before going to the OneCard Office for their photo ID.

The Hunter College OneCard is used for security and safety matters, admission to various college facilities and events, access to certain buildings and rooms and to utilize library services and public computers.

If you are an affiliate or vendor, the department that you will be reporting to will need to request that a temporary ID be created for you.

You can manage your OneCard account online.

General Information

Soon employees and students will be able to obtain an electronic version of the Hunter College identification card on their smart phone or iPhone devices. Until then, the physical ID card distributed by the OneCard Office remains the only official identification for access to buildings, venues and other services, and when requested by a college official.

The identification card must be shown to any Hunter College personnel upon request.

If an identification card is lost, stolen or destroyed, students and employees may obtain a replacement card by going to the OneCard Office. There is a $10 replacement fee.

Upon termination of employment, employees must hand in their identification card to the Office of Human Resources, where it will be forwarded to the Department of Public Safety and OneCard Office.

If the employee is continuing as a student, the individual may obtain a student identification card at the OneCard Office.

You need a photo ID (i.e state ID or passport) and know your employer ID number.

Your Employer ID is an eight digit unique identifier (within CUNY) for every person entered into CUNYfirst.

Students can find their 8 Digit CUNYfirst ID (Emplid) in CUNYfirst. Follow these steps.

A OneCard Replacement is $10 and you have to go to either Bursars Office, which is located in Hunter North 2nd Floor, or to the OneCard Kiosk Machine on the 1st Floor West Building.

If you left your Hunter ID card at home, you will have to get a temporary badge from the Visitor Center desk in the West Building Lobby.

Identification cards expire upon leaving the college or upon a student’s graduation.

You would have to go to CUNYfirst and fill out the preferred name change. Please print out the changes and bring it to the OneCard Office for an associate to update your name in the system. Once you have submitted a name change form to the registrar, it will take a week for the change to take on the Hunter College ID.

You can use your dining account at the cafeteria or the cafés around campus and Brookdale Campus.

You can deposit funds to your flex or dining account by using the OneCard Kiosk Machines that are located around campus, or you can manage your account online.
