Hunter College maintains an extensive wireless network throughout all campus locations. The wifi network functions in a predictable and reliable manner, providing simplicity, mobility, consistency, transparency, and security for everyone, regardless of where they connect. Wireless devices can move freely throughout areas with wireless service, without losing network connectivity.

Data Network
Hunter has an extensive data network which includes a combination of wired and wireless networks.
Hunter College designs, installs and maintains all network infrastructure for current spaces, renovations and new construction, including network jacks, copper and fiber cabling, switch infrastructure and connections to the network backbone.
Through this network, members of the community can directly access network-based resources using wired jacks supporting various data rates. In a few select college-owned residential facilities, wired network services are provided through a commercial carrier service managed by the college.
- Network connections that are use case specific.
- Reliable, dedicated access to the university network and the internet, with connections to several special purpose networks devoted to research and educational needs.
- Custom network designs for Data Center, research and administrative needs.

Choose “HunterSecure” when connecting to a wireless network. Any network names you see other than “HunterSecure” are private networks that belong to other people. You must not use these, even if you are able to join them—it is, at the very least, inconsiderate and could, under certain circumstances, be treated as a crime.

Please move closer to one of the locations mentioned above.
While you may be able to use other networks, it is NOT recommended. Not only is it bad for the owner of that network, it could also expose your computer to attack if the owner doesn’t run their network carefully.
Yes. Various kinds of activities could be monitored, which is why we urge you only to use “HunterSecure” wherever it is available.
Any of them! You can use Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox, Safari, Camino or any other browser of your choice.
You will automatically reconnect to HunterSecure when you are in range after you have completed the setup steps. If you want to prevent this or simply want to remove the stored authentication credentials for the network, you’ll need to follow the device-specific instructions to “forget the network”.
