About Zoom
Zoom combines HD video conferencing, online business meetings, webinars and mobile capabilities into one collaborative solution. One of the key advantages is that only one person has to download Zoom. Everyone else can simply click on the meeting link and jump right in from their phone, tablet or desktop.
This platform is free to faculty, staff and students and is accessed using your CUNYfirst Login.
Zoom Pro
All Hunter College faculty, staff and students are entitled to a free upgrade to Zoom Pro, which allows unlimited meeting times and full video conferencing functionality for large rooms (up to 300 attendees) and breakout rooms. Without the Zoom Pro account, you will be limited to a maximum length of 40 minutes for group meetings, including class sessions.
Please follow the steps below to activate and access your CUNY Zoom account on all platforms including the web, desktop and mobile versions.
Note: Hunter Zoom is replaced with CUNY Zoom
If you were assigned a Hunter Zoom account in 2020, that Hunter Zoom account expired in March 2021, but will be replaced with a CUNY Zoom account. You must sign out of all instances of your Hunter issued Zoom account before accessing your CUNY issued Zoom account.
To Activate Your CUNY Zoom
- Go to https://cuny.zoom.us
- Sign in using your CUNY login credentials. Remember, If you are already logged in with your Hunter login credentials, sign out before signing in with your CUNY login credentials.
- You will then be asked to confirm your email address. Click the blue Confirm Your Email Address button to continue.
- You will then see a message to check your Hunter email for the activation link email from Zoom. This can take several minutes to be received.
- Once you receive the activation email, click on the blue Activate Account button in the email.
- A new browser window will open with a login screen. Click the blue Sign In With SSO button.
- You will again be redirected to the CUNY Web Applications page. Sign in with your CUNY login credentials to access your CUNY Zoom web-based application.
Once your CUNY Zoom account has been activated, you will not have to perform these steps again. Simply navigate to the Zoom website and login using your CUNY login credentials to access the web version of Zoom.
Once you activate your CUNY Zoom account, follow the steps below to access your CUNY Zoom account on your mobile device.
First, you must sign out of your Hunter Zoom account, if you have one.
- Open the Zoom app on your mobile device.
- Tap “Settings” in the lower right-hand corner on the app.
- At the top of the “Settings” screen, you will see your account name. Tap your account name to open the drop-down menu.
- Scroll to the bottom of the settings screen and tap “Sign Out”.
Sign in to Zoom Mobile App
- In the Zoom mobile app you will see the Sign In screen. Tap Sign In located in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
- Then tap SSO located in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
- Enter cuny for the Company Domain and then tap the blue Go button, bottom right in the keyboard.
- You will be redirected to the CUNY Web Applications page. Login on with your CUNY login credentials to access your CUNY Zoom account.
Once you activate your CUNY Zoom account, follow the steps below to access your CUNY Zoom account on your mobile device.
First, you must sign out of your Hunter Zoom account, if you have one.
- Open the Zoom app on your desktop.
- Click your account located in the upper right-hand corner of the application.
- Click Sign Out located at the bottom of the drop-down menu.
Sign in to Zoom Desktop App
- In the Zoom desktop app you will see the Sign In screen. Click Sign In with SSO on the right side of the window.
- Then tap SSO located in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.
- Enter cuny for the Company Domain and then click the blue Continue button.
- You will then be redirected to the CUNY Web Applications page. Login on with your CUNY login credentials to access your CUNY Zoom account.
