Mellon Arts Fellowship

Welcome

With generous support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation from 2017-2021, Hunter’s Mellon Arts Fellowship Program helped prepare outstanding students from groups historically underrepresented in senior arts management, for leadership roles in the arts.

Learn About the Program

Internships and More

Making Connections

The Mellon Arts Fellowship Program connected students to arts professionals in mentoring and career development workshops and through paid internships at prestigious arts institutions throughout New York City. The Program was a catalyst for diversifying the programming as well as the internal employment structure in the arts organizations that offered internships.

Success Stories

During its five years, the Mellon Arts Fellowship Program provided 47 talented Hunter undergraduates with professional development and career exploration. More than half of these students used this training to launch arts administration careers and many found permanent positions at such institutions as the Frick Collection, artnet.com, Sirius XM, Ballet Hispanico, the Schomburg Center and the Bloomingdale School of Music.

Meet Our Past Hunter Mellon Fellows

"This last year has been nothing short of personal growth. [Through] the monthly workshops, the cultural events, and my experience interning...my idea of what the art world encompasses was expanded."
