Project Description
The renovation of the existing 2,200 square foot rehearsal hall on the 6th Floor for the Hunter College’s Music Department allows it to serve as a beautiful and customizable performance space for opera, band, orchestra and 100-person choir. With new flexible furniture and motorized retractable risers, the space is be able to accommodate a variety of different seating configurations. Instructional AV and IT solutions (including a 5.1 surround sound system) along with a self-service recording station and video projection system are all integrated within the acoustic design. In addition, the existing storage spaces within the room have been renovated to better house various instruments and equipment. All existing window openings will be fitted with acoustic glass windows to allow for natural daylight without compromising the acoustic integrity of the space.
