Project Description
Designed as a center for student life, the new library features flexible study, reading and social spaces that are dispersed throughout both floors and serve to bring together students and faculty from different academic programs in a more casual and informal environment.
The 6th floor includes an education library and dedicated space for the Macaulay Honors College, while the seventh floor includes writing, math and science learning centers, pre-professional advising suites and a fixed seat presentation theater. A new open stair connects the two floors and also extends to a rooftop reading garden. With the overall design focused on light, clarity, comfort, and functionality (there are now close to 600 available electrical outlets), this beautiful 21st-century library serves as an example for urban campuses nationwide.
