Aphasia Group

About the Group

The Hunter College Aphasia Group supports the communicative needs of those who have aphasia and other neurologically involved disorders. Attendance and membership in the group are free.

The group format involves social interaction to improve communication of individuals with aphasia or other neurological disorders. The group is supervised by a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist, with students enrolled in the master's of science program in speech-language pathology.

Two hour meetings are held weekly on Tuesday afternoons during the academic year. The following shows the schedule for Aphasia Group:

  • Fall semester: 2-4 pm, Tuesdays, commencing the 3rd Tuesday in September and ending the 3rd Tuesday of December
  • Spring semester: 2-4 pm, Tuesdays, commencing the first Tuesday of February and ending the 3rd Tuesday of May
  • Summer semester: 2-4 pm, Tuesdays, commencing the first Tuesday of June and ending the last Tuesday of July
  • There are no meetings during the month of August or the month of January, or when the college is closed for a holiday or break
