NSSLHA Chapter at Hunter College

The Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology maintains an active branch of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA). The Hunter College NSSLHA chapter is student organized and operated chapter offering opportunities for students to interact with others interested in the fields of speech-language pathology and/or audiology.

The chapter performs volunteer work, explores issues that affect communicative disorders and interact to address issues for students and pre-professionals. Student members engage in community activities such as charity walks and volunteer events. There are also opportunities to attend workshops, participate in fundraising activities, and attend national, regional and local educational conferences.

About NSSLHA

National Student Speech Language Hearing Association

Founded in 1972, NSSLHA is the national organization for graduate and undergraduate students interested in the study of normal and disordered human communication. NSSLHA is the only official national student association recognized by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA). NSSLHA has approximately 13,000 members with chapters at more than 300 colleges and universities. NSSLHA membership is available to any part- or full-time, graduate or undergraduate student interested in the study of communication disorders. The mission of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is to benefit its members by continually improving its support, promotion, and advocacy of the highest quality preparation of professionals in audiology, speech-language pathology and speech and hearing science.
