Hunter Alumni Highlight the Value of Public Education

They’re crazy about Hunter!

Twenty-five alumni highlight how Hunter College transformed their lives and helped them achieve their American dream.

In our “But for Hunter...” videos, the alumni describe how the dynamic educational pathways and personal connections they found at the college propelled them to career success and personal fulfillment.

“But for Hunter...” they state, they wouldn’t be who and where they are today!

Their stories are showcased on the college’s YouTube channel and will be featured on our website during the March 27–29 Alumni Weekend. They can also be found in the winter issue of Hunter Magazine. Alumni returning to campus for the reunion are being invited to make their own “But for Hunter” videos on Saturday, March 29, in a room set aside for filming.

But for Hunter, Brooklyn native Munazza Alam ’16 might never have become an astrophysicist.

“But for Hunter College, I would not have been able to afford my undergraduate degree and afford law school." Today, Carol Crossdale ’91, is the founder and CEO of the executive-search and compliance firm Crossdale Search.

Andrew Gounardes ’06, one Hunter’s “40 Under 40” distinguished alumni, studying at Hunter propelled him toward politics. “But for Hunter, I don’t think any one of those other dominoes would have fallen into place the way they did.”

But for Hunter, Kelle Jacob ’08, might never have gone to college! “I found myself at Hunter, my voice, and I understood that you can do so much more as a part of something bigger than yourself.”
