East Building Closure Update for Thursday, Dec. 7. All classes taking place in the East Building of the Main Campus have resumed. The Library is open. Offices on floors 13 through 17 will remain CLOSED to staff. Those stationed on these floors should work remotely. Offices on floors 3 through 12 will be OPEN. Those stationed on these floors can return to the office.

A Conversation about a Career in the US Foreign Service

Vaida Vidugiris joined the State Department in 2004, becoming a Foreign Service Officer in 2007. She has worked abroad in Colombia as a Narcotics Affairs Section Officer (2007-2009), in Greece as a Human Rights Officer (2010-2012), in Afghanistan as an External Unit Officer (2013-2014), and as the Political and Economic Section Chief
in Istanbul (2018-2021).
In Washington, D.C., Vaida served as a staff assistant in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs (2006), as the NATO Operations Officer for Afghanistan (2012-2013), as the Political-Military Officer on the Ukraine Desk (2014-2015), and as the Senior Political Officer on the Mexico Desk (2015-2017).
She is currently the Davis Fellow at Columbia University. Vaida is a former Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations and speaks Lithuanian, Russian, Greek, Turkish, and a couple of Romance languages. She has a B.A. in Political Science/Spanish/Thomas Hunter Honors from Hunter College, CUNY, and an M.A. in Security Policy Studies from the George Washington University.
