In the wake of the 2020 Presidential Election, state legislatures across the United States have responded to unsubstantiated claims of election fraud by passing laws restricting access to the ballot. This wave of voter suppression is best exhibited by Texas’s Senate Bill 1 (SB1) but is by no means the only example. There are scores of bills now being considered to suppress votes and curtail ballot access. To discuss that and more join us on Wednesday, October 20 at 1:30pm for Protecting the Ballot: Election Law and Voter Access.

Speakers:

  • Jerry Goldfeder, Special Advisor to the American Bar Association’s Election Law Committee and Special Counsel at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP
  • Dr. Sanford Schram, Political Science Department and Roosevelt House Faculty Associate, Hunter College
  • Dr. Basil A. Smikle Jr., Distinguished Lecturer and Director of the Public Policy Program at Roosevelt House, Hunter College (Moderator)

This event will be held in person at Roosevelt House.

Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination will be required for all who attend, and masks must be worn at all times in Roosevelt House.
