This is an extraordinary opportunity for students and faculty to meet and discuss filmmaking with French director Bertrand Bonello, whose new film Zombi Child is being shown in the Main Selection of this year’s New York Film Festival. Bonello is the 2015 recipient of the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters. His films focus on such subjects as a Parisian brothel in the 19th century, young political terrorists in contemporary France, and the fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, and have attracted an enormous amount of attention, praise, and controversy. Three of Bonello’s films have been nominated for the Palme d’or at the Cannes Film Festival, including Saint Laurent, which was also nominated for the César Award for Best Picture and Best Director.
Bonello will be speaking to students at 10 am on Wednesday, October 2 in the Hemmerdinger Screening Room, East Building, Room 706. Excerpts from his work will be shown and discussed. All students and faculty are welcome.
