Can engineers mitigate the effects of climate change? Solar geoengineering, an ambitious set of experiments that aim to reduce the amount of sun and heat that reaches the planet, has gained momentum in recent years. But just what are the risks – and possible rewards – of using techniques like injecting reflective particles into the stratosphere to decrease global temperatures?

Join the award-winning radio, television, and podcast Intelligence Squared U.S. for a debate on the motion, "Engineering Solar Radiation Is a Crazy Idea." Best-selling author and professor Clive Hamilton teams up with Oxford scholar Anjali Viswamohanan to argue in favor of the motion. They'll face Harvard'sDavid Keith, named a "Hero of the Environment" by TIME magazine, and UCLA professor Ted Parson, who will argue against.
