Presented by Yasha Klots, PhD, Assistant Professor, Hunter College
Was the Third Wave of the Russian Emigration to the United States in fact Jewish? This talk will focus on Russophone authors from the Soviet Union immigrating to the US in the 1970-1980s (particularly, Sergei Dovlatov). It will discuss the permutations of their hybrid identity as Soviet Jews and Russian writers and ways in which this identity was performed in fiction and poetry.
