From left: Manu Bhagavan and Vishakha Desai
Join us for a conversation with Hunter professor Manu Bhagavan, as he discusses his new, definitive biography of Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit—India's first woman cabinet minister, pioneering diplomat, and global icon. The Remarkable Madame Pandit brings to life a trailblazing figure who shaped 20th-century India and the international stage, from challenging colonial rule to confronting authoritarianism. Drawing on years of international research, Bhagavan reveals the untold story of a woman who broke barriers and redefined diplomacy. The conversation will be moderated by Vishakha Desai, President Emerita of the Asia Society, former Senior Advisor for Global Affairs to the President and Senior Research Scholar at the Committee on Global Thought, Columbia University.
