Subpoenas and Other Legal Notices

If you receive a summons or subpoena that involves Hunter College business, please inform the Office of Legal Affairs immediately, and keep a record of the date, time, and method (by hand or mail) by which you received the notice.

If you are contacted by an attorney, direct them to the Office of Legal Affairs.

Serving a Subpoena on Hunter College

Hunter College does not accept service of subpoenas.

A subpoena must be addressed to and served upon the CUNY Office of General Counsel, at CUNY's Central Office, by hand. The Office of General Counsel will then convey the subpoena to Hunter Interim General Counsel Jessica Alvarez - the subpoena should be addressed to her attention.

Also note that our office will only respond to subpoenas that are so ordered.
