A new partnership between Hunter College and the New York State Mentoring Program, helmed by Matilda Cuomo, aims to take full advantage of the diversity of Hunter’s student body by providing one-to-one mentoring at Public School 7, the Samuel Stern School, located across the street from Hunter’s Silberman School of Social Work in East Harlem.
Hunter College students, many of whom have similar backgrounds to New York’s public school students, will mentor fourth graders from PS 7, reinforcing the importance of staying in school and serving as positive role models.
