Barbara Ravida

President Jennifer J. Raab honored faculty recipients of the 2022 Presidential Awards for Excellence at a ceremony and reception hosted at the 68th Street campus on May 11, 2022. Barbara Ravida, Lecturer and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs at the School of Nursing, received the Excellence in Service award.

With 37 years of experience in medical-surgical and critical care nursing, Associate Dean Ravida has shared her clinical expertise and passion for nursing with students for 28 years as a clinical instructor and lecturer at Hunter. She received an associate's degree in nursing from Beth Israel Medical Center, a bachelor's degree in nursing from Pace University, and two master's degrees in Clinical Nurse Specialist and Adult Nurse Practitioner from Hunter College and Seton Hall University, respectively. Nationally certified in all areas of expertise, she teaches nursing fundamentals, adult health, physical assessment and pathophysiology to HBSON undergraduate students. She is active in the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, and the Hunter School of Nursing Alumni Association.

Throughout her career, Associate Dean Ravida said her love of nursing and patient care has never wavered, even during the most trying of times—9/11, hurricanes, blizzards, blackouts, and most recently, and perhaps the most difficult, the COVID-19 pandemic.

Congratulations to Associate Dean Ravida and all of this year's fellow awardees!
