Hunter College congratulates Assistant Professor Tara Heagele, an expert on emergency and disaster preparedness, on being named as a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
As a member of her local Medical Reserve Corps, Dr. Heagele, who lives in New Jersey, volunteers her expertise to her community during extreme weather events and public-health emergencies. She holds several certifications in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery; her research and expert testimony on household emergency preparedness of the elderly and medically frail have informed federal disaster-preparedness legislation.
Dr. Heagele will be inducted in November with new fellows from 37 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and 14 countries.
The American Academy of Nursing serves the public by advancing health policy.
