As the effects of the government shutdown linger, CUNY and Hunter College are committed to ensuring that unexpected financial hardships do not disrupt our students’ education.
As announced on January 23, students who are adversely affected by the shutdown may defer payments for tuition and related college expenses, with no late fees or penalties applied. This temporary reprieve is available to federal employees and their dependents. Although the partial shutdown is not expected to affect most federal financial aid recipients, any students whose loan distribution is delayed by the shutdown may also postpone payments without penalty.
In addition, non-tuition emergency funding is available to help students experiencing financial difficulties during this time.
