Hunter College alumna Munazza Alam graduated in 2016 from Hunter’s Macaulay Honors College, majoring in physics. While she was a student, she was inspired to do research on celestial bodies, specifically brown dwarfs. In her junior year at Hunter College, she won a coveted National Geographic Young Explorers grant which led her to the Carnegie Institution for Science’s Las Campanas Observatory.
Recently, Munazza was featured in National Geographic’s Explorer Academy: The Truth Behind series discussing brown dwarfs and how to search for Earth-like planets.
