Hunter College is celebrating Constitution Day and National Voter Registration Day on September 17 by holding a voter-registration fair.
Co-sponsored by the Undergraduate Student Government and the Office of Student Activities, the fair will feature activities all day at the Student Union, including:
- A voter-registration drive conducted by the New York Public Interest Research Group
- Tables to help students identify their polling locations and familiarize themselves with a sample ballot
- Information on how to become a poll worker and how to become involved in election work
- A volunteer art project for decorating postcards with “Get Out the Vote” information
- Snacks, giveaways, stickers, etc.
Election Day is November 5, and early voting in New York begins October 26.
Constitution Day marks the anniversary of the signing of our founding document by the delegates of the 1787 Constitutional Convention.
Hunter College urges students, faculty, and staff to use the anniversary to read the U.S. Constitution and to reflect on the laws, rights, and freedoms it gives our nation.
