Hunter’s School of Social Work is moving from East 79th Street to a new $135 million building 39 blocks uptown to East Harlem.
The new school, made possible by Lois V. and Samuel Silberman’s generous donation of $40 million–the largest gift ever to The City University of New York and Hunter College–will be located at Third Avenue from 118th Street to 119th Street, stretching west toward Lexington Ave., and will appropriately be named “The Silberman School of Social Work” after its benefactors.
