A faculty member of the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing is being awarded a national honor.
Associate Professor and alumna Dr. Leighsa Sharoff MSN ’96 is being named a Fellow of the National League of Nursing’s Academy of Nursing Education.
Dr. Sharoff’s expertise is in curriculum, genomics, simulation, and online education. She is known for her pedagogical methods and development of innovative approaches focusing on best practices for genomics integration to enhance nurses’ and students’ genomic knowledge base.
“We are incredibly proud of Dr. Sharoff’s achievements in simulation, genomics literacy, and online education,” said Dr. Ann Marie P. Mauro, Joan Hansen Grabe Dean of the Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing. “Through her international dissemination of this work, Dr. Sharoff demonstrates the global impact of Hunter faculty and alumni.”
Dr. Sharoff will be inducted into the 18th class of Fellows of the prestigious National League for Nursing Academy of Nursing Education in September.
“I am honored to become a fellow of the academy, and I will continue to work to ensure our future nursing workforce succeeds in an ever-changing healthcare setting,” she said.
