Hunter College’s Frayda B. Lindemann Professor and Chair of Music, Suzanne Farrin, has been awarded the prestigious Frederic A. Juilliard/Walter Damrosch Rome Prize by the American Academy in Rome for her composition The Hour of The Star, a forty-minute opera based on Clarice Lispector’s short novel.
For over a century, the American Academy in Rome awards the Rome Prize to nearly thirty individuals who represent the highest standard of excellence, supporting innovative and cross-disciplinary work in the arts and humanities.
