“An incredible accomplishment” is how Hunter College President Jennifer J. Raab described the graduating of 4,000 students this spring who spent the past year and a half mostly learning remotely. “It was a challenge for our students but they rose to the occasion,” said President Raab, on FOX5’s Good Day New York.
While last year’s graduation ceremonies were cancelled due to COVID restrictions, this year, 11 smaller in-person ceremonies were held to celebrate graduates from a range of schools and departments.
“When you saw the families in the audience watching their kids throw their graduation caps in the air, nothing made you happier,” President Raab told host Rosanna Scotto.
Looking ahead to the fall, President Raab expressed optimism about students returning to campus and regaining a sense of normalcy, noting that a majority of Hunter’s classes will be held in person.
