President Raab on COVID-19 (March 16, AM)

COVID-19

On March 16, 2020, Hunter College President Jennifer J. Raab shared this update:

To Hunter faculty,

By now you have learned that only essential personnel were asked to report to campus today. However we want you to know that Hunter remains open, and the administrative leadership team and emergency personnel are in the building to help support the transition to remote instruction. We will have more updates later today, but we wanted to be sure you continue to have the resources you need to transition to remote instruction sooner rather than later. Please note that while today’s in-person sessions are canceled, webinars will continue throughout the day. In addition, there will be opportunities for one-on-one support over the phone as necessary. We expect to be able to offer some limited in-person sessions in the coming days as well. Listed below are additional resources, and as more information is available it will be posted on Hunter’s coronavirus website.

First, many of the in-person training sessions on various remote instruction tools that had been scheduled for this week will be moved online. The Distance Learning Drop-In Sessions will be offered online on Monday 3/16 1-5pm, Tuesday 3/17 10-4pm, and Wednesday 3/18 3-6pm.

Ed Tech Office Hours will continue, and you can find the schedule here. During these office hours members of the Center for Online Learning will be available to answer your questions and guide you through some of the available tools. We are also moving our Teaching Workshops fully online, and you can find the schedule for upcoming sessions here. Additional sessions will be added in the coming days and weeks and we encourage you to check back regularly for updates.

The HelpDesk continues to be available, and we are in the process of ramping up our abilities to provide support for you at your remote location. Additional technical support will still be available on our 68th campus, and at this point you will still have access to your offices as well.

Thank you again for everything you have done for our community during this difficult time. The next few days will be a transition for all of us, and I greatly appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

Sincerely,

Jennifer J. Raab
