Artificial intelligence systems are revolutionizing tasks traditionally requiring human intelligence. However, the deployment of these systems must be approached with interdisciplinary solutions to ensure they are used ethically and sensitively. To learn more about this topic, AFPC-USA’s Editorial Supervisor Alan Herrera spoke with Raj Korpan, an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY).
Professor Korpan directs the Trustworthy, Intelligent, and Explainable Robotics Lab, focusing on human-robot interaction (HRI), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning. His recent work has delved into ethical considerations for language-capable robots and participatory design in robotics and AI. Additionally, he is a dedicated advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion in robotics and AI, co-founding Queer in Robotics and organizing workshops on DEI in HRI.
