April 29, 2025
Share

Dear Colleagues,

There is still space available in several upcoming, in-person, DCAS professional development courses, at the CUNY Central Office (395 Hudson Street, New York, NY). These courses are a great opportunity to enhance your workplace skills and engage in meaningful learning with colleagues across CUNY.

Courses:

  • Handling Stress in the Workplace
In this workshop, the causes of stress will be discussed, as well as methods of coping with stress. This interactive workshop offers techniques on how to recognize when you are becoming stressed and suggestions on how to reduce stress.
    May 20, 2025 | $150.00
  • Enhancing Work for Optimal Engagement
We spend the majority of our lives at work, completing tasks and interacting with colleagues. This workshop will present the evidence that drives motivation at work and will provide a focus on making your day more gratifying and increasing your level of effectiveness, as well as increasing positive connections with colleagues. We will explore the importance of the work itself and the impact it has on your life by taking a deeper look at your personal characteristics. Participants will apply their self-knowledge to map a career plan that aligns with who they are and what they want for optimal engagement.
    June 10, 2025 | Half-Day Session, 9:30 AM – 1:00 PM | $75.00
  • Six Steps to Solving Your Most Challenging Problems
Is there an issue/challenge/situation you would like to improve? This workshop will help you identify the real problem, collect all the necessary information, and gain clarity before developing solutions. It will also assist participants in exploring innovative approaches that should help increase the number and quality of options generated. Finally, it should give you the tools to identify options, create an implementation plan with a review process, and monitor progress.
    June 12, 2025 | $150.00
  • Attitude is Everything
Attitude is a highly personal and sensitive topic. As attitude deteriorates, commitment, loyalty, and performance are impacted. Everyone encounters setbacks that may shift their attitude into a negative focus. This course provides individuals with the knowledge and skills to develop and maintain positive attitudes while being sensitive to underlying causes that may lead to negative attitudes. Participants will explore various methods for responding to different attitudes positively and productively.
    June 18, 2025 | $150.00

How to Register:
Interested employees must first receive approval from their supervisor before submitting a registration request. Once approval is granted, staff should complete the Professional Development Registration Form.

A confirmation email will be sent by University.Training@cuny.edu to the employee and their supervisor within 7 business days of registration approval.

Please note:

  • If a registered employee cannot attend, the campus HR office should notify the Professional Development & Learning team at University.Training@cuny.edu at least 10 days prior to the course.
  • If sufficient notice cannot be provided, campuses may designate a substitute attendee. Campuses are responsible for payment if a cancellation or substitution is not properly communicated.

We look forward to your participation in these valuable development opportunities!
